This is an oft photographed and oft painted scene – the foot bridge and Selectmen’s House in Somesville, Maine. Somesville is actually the oldest village on Mount Desert Island, home of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We stopped by on our way to Southwest Harbor on what was an overcast and somewhat gloomy day. The rains stopped just long enough for me to get out of the car, get down low to the ground (on a towel I had in the hatch) so I could get the Blue Flag Irises in the foreground, and make a few images.
Image made with my Canon 30D and 24-70mm f/2.8L lens, handheld.
I can see why that would be a popular scene. You have captured it beautifully!

I like how you used the entire frame on this shot. I wish I were there right now.

Nice shot,… I especially enjoy reflection shots. This a.m. when driving to work the river was lit with early a.m. light and had a perfect mirror…. ach! didn’t have my camera. One of the down sides of running late.

Pretty indeed. Beautiful reflection and the irises in the greens… ah, how tranquil. I’d be standing on the bridge for a long time just gazing over the sights!
